His father, Imam Muhammad Namakka, served as the Chief Imam of the Central Friday Mosque of Kaura Namoda from 1954 until his death in 1984. The family’s legacy of religious leadership traces back to Imam Gabdo, the first Chief Imam of Kaura Namoda, appointed in 1807 by Muzaffar Muhammadu Namoda, the founder of the town.
Alhaji Sahabi Liman received his Islamic education at home and under prominent scholars within Kaura Namoda. He also embraced modern education, firmly believing in the importance of knowledge as a tool for personal and societal development.
