His Early Life and Education.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais,is one of the most recognized voices in the Muslim world, was born in Riyadh in 1960. He demonstrated exceptional dedication to Islamic learning from an early age, memorizing the entire Qur’an by the age of 12.
His beautiful recitation, distinct for its emotional depth and clarity, began to gain attention even during his youth.
After completing his basic education, he graduated in 1979 and pursued higher education in Islamic Shariah. In 1983, he obtained a degree from Riyadh University (now King Saud University).
He later earned a Master’s degree in Islamic Shariah in 1987, followed by a Doctorate in the same field in 1995.
His Academic and Religious Career.
Sheikh Al-Sudais initially served in the academic field, holding positions at Riyadh University and subsequently at Umm al-Qura University in Makkah as an Assistant Professor in Islamic Studies.
His academic contributions. complemented his religious role, as he was known not only for his recitation but also for his knowledge in Fiqh and Tafsir.

At the remarkably young age of 24, Sheikh Al-Sudais was appointed as one of the Imams of Al-Masjid Al-Haram (the Grand Mosque in Makkah). He delivered his first Friday sermon in July 1984, and his voice soon became iconic to Muslims around the world, especially during Ramadan and the Hajj season.
His style of recitation, marked by its emotion and humility, resonated deeply with millions and has been widely broadcast and recorded across the globe.

Sheikh Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, urged visitors to perform the eclipse prayer in accordance with the Sunnah.

Sheikh Sudais emphasized that such actions exemplify the dedication of the Kingdom’s security personnel, whose vigilance and sincere service ensure that pilgrims and worshippers can perform their acts of worship in safety and peace.
He concluded by praying for the officer’sswift recovery and expressing deep appreciation for all security men who stand as the first line of protection for the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.

His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, in his speech during the Eid celebration ceremony attended by the esteemed Sheikh Dr.Yasser Al-Dosari, praised the great success achieved during the blessed month of Ramadan 1446 AH.
He attributed this success to the unity of all male and female employees of the Presidency and the harmony among the government agencies involved in delivering operational, enrichment, security, and health services.

The crown Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, received Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Two Holy Mosques, accompanied by a number of Imams of Masjid Al Haram.
His Leadership and Administration.
In 2012, Sheikh Al-Sudais was appointed as the President of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques — overseeing both Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah.
He was granted the ministerial rank by royal decree in recognition of his services to the Haramain and the wider Muslim Ummah.
In this capacity, Sheikh Al-Sudais has supervised numerous projects and reforms, including enhancements in crowd management during Hajj, improvements in the services offered to pilgrims, and digital transformation efforts aimed at facilitating easier access to religious services.
Sheikh Al-Sudais is admired globally not just as a Qāriʾ (reciter) of the Qur’an, but as a leader and scholar who has dedicated his life to serving the sacred mosques and the Ummah at large.
